INGLEWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT (CA) BRIDGING PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS

APPREHENDING A STALKER

The Inglewood Police Department Special Enforcement Team (SET) apprehended adangerous stalker threatening great bodily harm to a victim, her children and extended relatives. SET is a group of officers that work specialized problems.
The suspect attempted to reach the victim and her family at their home. IPD was called and arrived before he could gain access, but he evaded officers. Due to the severity of the threat, IPD SET Team set up surveillance on the victim and her family while investigators worked to locate the suspect.
After a few days, the suspect began texting the victim. The victim sent screenshots of the texts to officers she had built a rapport with earlier in the week. An IPD officer immediately posted those screenshots into the Bridge4PS SET Team channel. SET Team members received the information within seconds of the suspect contacting the victim.
The SET Team, with information provided by the victim’s texts, were able to estimate his location and assumed route to her residence. Nine minutes after receiving the intel on his location, they apprehended him without incident as he exited the freeway.

IPD TESTIMONIAL

The suspect was stopped, detained and arrested without incident, largely in part to the successful use and application of the Bridge4PS app. I do believe Bridge4PS was instrumental in successfully saving this victim from potential harm from the suspect. The suspect had priors and there is no doubt in my mind, he intended her harm.
We have been using the Bridge4PS app daily with great success in apprehending violent criminals and is a key component in our day-to-day operations now. The Bridge4PS app has been a valuable asset in providing public safety, while at the same time maintaining officer safety.

Inglewood Police Department
We began using Bridge4PS in preparation for the opening of SoFi Stadium to provide a way of seamlessly sharing information with hundreds of personnel from IPD and other public safety partners supporting security operations.
Because we use it daily, it has been instrumental in response operations including our departmentwide coordination during the initial outbreak of COVID-19 as well as the peaceful management of civil unrest. Our staff continues to find new and innovative uses of the app – from sharing intel with other law enforcement agencies in our area to enhancing our ability to stream video from devices and locations not previously possible.
